Title: |
Scrooge and The Barber |
Description: |
The reformed Ebenezer Scrooge, now a Christmas addict, and his new partner turn the money-lending firm into a socially forward-thinking organization, with health care for borrowers and the slogan “Every Day is Christmas at Scrooge and Cratchit.” They don’t normally loan to speculative enterprises, but when six (real-life 19th-century) inventors show how their creations - Daguerreotype, nitroglycerin, medicinal ether, diving helmet/suit combination, pile driver and saxophone – each enhance Christmas, Scrooge backs them. That turns out to be fortuitous when Scrooge goes to a new Fleet Street barber for a trim and is talked into investing in meat pies with a secret ingredient, suitable for Christmas dinner, only to learn of his grievous mistake from Mrs. Lovett. With the aid of the inventors and Lovett, he extricates himself from Sweeney Todd’s evil, restores the spirit of Christmas and sends Todd off to an appropriate exile.
