Description: |
(African American version of “Three Sisters” now taking place in a segregated army base in South Carolina during World War II. I don’t know Austin Pendleton very well, but I knew he directs and acts in many Chekhov plays. He’s presently getting ready to rehearse a new “Three Sisters” in New York. Well, I asked him to take a look at my new version. Here are some of his comments about this exciting new adaptation: “[The Three Graces] is really striking and imaginative. I kept evaluating every moment in terms of the ways that you found, some of them ingenious, to stick to the basic developments in the Chekhov, and the ways you found to diverge from them, a couple of them brilliant. Your play is rich, evocative and loving.” The co-author served in a segregated army based like in the play. It was the first time in US history rich, poor, Northern and Southern blacks all came together to deal with unbelievable racisms. unit set. |
